QUANTUM COMPUTER In the semiconductor industry, the diversity of processor chips in the market ensures efficient utilizations on selected applications. In analogy, to avoid overpaying for the over-abundant calculating capability, quantum computers are currently designed and built around the world with various hardware architectures to engage in different business areas. Without the treat called “Quantum Computers,” most real-life hard problems will remain unsolved, and the business need not to invest on quantum cybersecurity. Global research community has pictorially foreseen that in a few years to come, quantum computing and artificial intelligent (AI) will be combined as a key ingredient for industrial productivity and competitiveness. Allegorically, if Thailand were an enterprise, what Thailand should prepare at this precise moment for the emergence of fully functional quantum computers are Study the first-wave industries namely chemicals and pharmaceuticals, global energy and materials, transportation network, autonomous vehicles, and cybersecurity to further recognize the value for other advance industries. Develop an in-house hardware and software quantum team specifically assigned for related classically hard problems. To begin with, Thailand must first select the champions in both technical approaches and full-time researchers. Establish partnerships with leaders in the field to participate in directing the global trend for the benefit of Thailand. Map out a migration plan from classically encrypted data assets to quantum-protected system.
